While you may choose to spend all of your stay at Chateau Allure du Lac, there are many places to experience and explore nearby. A short distance away from the chateau is the city of Angers. This incredibly beautiful city is near where the Maine River enters the Loire Valley. Angers is a quaint mix of old and new. Formerly ruled by nobility awash in riches, the city has numerous historic houses and castles along with amazing museums of art.

Centuries old vineyards offer a wine tasting experience that is both delicious and immersive. While not as famous as the Burgundy or Bordeaux regions, the Loire Valley offers a diverse array of wine styles that will suit any palate. The wine tours are much more intimate than in the larger regions, with guests sometimes talking to actual winery owners. Some even include a home cooked lunch.

Looking to experience the countryside while keeping your golf game sharp? There are many courses in the nearby area. Of note is Golf D’Angers, an eighteen hole course with great views of the Loire Valley. Don’t miss getting a post round drink at the spectacular clubhouse.
